Barlow Bob is an amateur solar stargeezer
banker, with a passion forH-alpha solar observing and spectroscopy.
He is member of the Rockland
Astronomy Club. Since 1991, RAC has presented their annual NEAF Northeast
Astronomy Forum, co-sponsored by Sky and Telescope.
NEAF has become the world’s largest trade
show of amateur astronomy products: rocklandastronomy.com. NEAF 2010 will be held at Rockland Community College
in Suffern, NY from April 17 to 18, 2010.
Barlow Bob observed the sun through a
variety of his H-alpha solar filters outside the entrance to NEAF from 1991 to
2005. In 2006 RAC included this informal solar observing, as an educational
activity at NEAF. Barlow Bob created NSSP NEAF Solar Star
Party: neafsolar.com.
What started as a one-man side walk amateur
solar astronomy outreach program, has become the world’s largest solar star
party. NSSP is the ultimate amateur solar astronomy outreach program. NSSP
consists of a dedicated group of the
finest amateur solar astronomers, plus the NEAF solar vendors.
